Weather in Texas

Yesterday we tied a record high with 81 degree. See below for the weather today.

Today it was 35 degrees with sleet on the ground. They say if you don't like the weather in Texas, wait and it will change. This wasn't quite the change I was looking for, but this is probably as close as we will get to a white Christmas this year.

Taking after my Mom

I think I can open this without anyone knowing.

Oh hi mom, I was just looking at the excellent wrapping job you did.

Thanksgiving

Well we made it through our first Holiday with Amanda. She was very popular, and she did really well. She's a really good girl. She doesn't seem to mind being held by different people, and to my amazement neither does Mom (Angie). Angie seems fine with letting Aunt Lori, Grandma, and Great Grandma, and others hold Amanda.

Thanksgiving went well. The food, company, and even football was good. We are all ready for Christmas. We have finished our shopping and have all the presents wrapped and under the tree. The house is decorated and ready to celebrate Amanda's first Christmas.

Amanda is doing great. She started sleeping in her room Friday night. She slept through the first night and didn't seem to notice the difference. Mom (Angie) didn't do as well. Mom didn't sleep well because she kept checking the video monitor we have setup in Amanda room. It's a pretty neat little piece of equipment. It has color video and night vision with sound in a small hand held unit. Mom slept better the next night and Amanda is still doing well. She has woken up a few times in the middle of the night, but for the most part it's working out better than I expected.

We took Amanda to Church this last Sunday, and I don't think she quite knew what to make of all that. When we brought her in the choir was singing and it seemed the volume was up a bit more than normal. When Angie pulled back the blanket that was covering her carrier her eye were the size of quarters. She was looking around like what in the heck is going on. What have you done to me. Then Amanda remembered 11:00 is her lunchtime so that was about it for her first church experience. Mom ended up giving her a bottle in the front foyer of the church.

The pictures at the bottom are of here little dress mom put her in for church. We went to Chili's to eat with Grandma Nancy, Aunt Leslie, & Uncle Michael after church. She was pretty good during lunch. I think we were having gas issues Sunday, so if it weren't for that she'd have been in a better mood. But all in all it was a good outing.

Our first round of shots

Mom and baby are doing fine. Amanda had her doctors appointment yesterday and passed with flying colors. She still in the 90th percentile as far as growth and weight. She now weighs 12 lbs. 8 oz. and is 22.5 inches long. She received 4 shots yesterday. Mom knows which ones she received, I didn't pay that close attention. She did well, she cried a bit, but all in all it was good.

Afterwards Angie and I went to eat at Olive Garden with Amanda. Our first meal out with Amanda and she slept through the whole thing. She really is a good baby. She slept well again last night and was all smiles this morning.

We had a pretty quite weekend. Angie went back to work this week. She is working a half day on Friday and a full day on Saturday. Grandma Nancy came over and got her Amanda time in on Friday, and I kept Amanda all day Saturday. For some reason Amanda choose Saturday to sleep most of the day so I had it fairly easy. Angie wasn't too happy with me when Amanda woke up at 2:30 AM wanting to play. Sorry

This week we have our 8 week doctors appointment to meet with the pediatrician and get our first round of shots. We should also get an updated weight and length then as well. I'm taking that day to help. I saved up all my vacation this year for the end so I have days to burn this year.

Everything else is going great. I think Amanda is already trying to talk. 8 weeks old and she's just started jabbering yesterday. If she's anything like her Mom and Dad she be a talker. Now I think it's sweet that she's trying, but everyone tells me once they start they never stop. I guess I better start studying now, because I can already hear the questions coming.

Video

Here's what I think Amanda's thinking.

I think mom's loosing it.

Nope, not going to smile.

Lots of New Pictures

Sorry for the late posting this week. I had to report for jury duty. Thankfully I wasn't selected, but it did take all day. This weekend was busy. Aunt Pam & Uncle Ike were in town to see Amanda. We all went to Lori's for dinner and stay to watch the Longhorn game. If the Longhorns had won it would have been the perfect weekend, but it was great seeing everyone and I think everyone got their Amanda time in.

Halloween Party

We went to Aunt Leslie & Uncle Michael's Halloween party this weekend. Grandma Nancy met us there and picked up Amanda to baby sit while we were at the party. I think everyone including Grandma had a good time. Amanda did well but I think we threw her schedule off a bit staying up late. She still slept pretty well, we just weren't ready to go to bed last night. I finally laid her down at 11:00 pm, and she fell a sleep fairly quickly after that.

If you didn't already know we have 3 dogs. Bud is my dog, Baxter is Angie's dog and I think Winston has been waiting for Amanda to arrive. I'm pretty sure Winston is going to be Amanda's dog.
